What Is Telehealth Psychiatry? / ¿Qué Es la Psiquiatría por Telehealth?
Telehealth psychiatry is the delivery of psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management via secure video or phone appointment. It is clinically equivalent to in-person care for the vast majority of psychiatric conditions.
Your provider can:
- Conduct a full psychiatric evaluation
- Diagnose mental health conditions
- Prescribe and manage medications (including controlled substances, subject to DEA regulations)
- Order labs when needed
- Coordinate with your other providers
- Provide follow-up care and medication adjustments

- Buprenorphine (Schedule III): Can be prescribed via telehealth for opioid use disorder
Regulations continue to evolve. Your provider will explain what applies to your specific situation.
